One other major effect of pornography is the fact that protection is rarely used. Also, early exposure to porn can be an additive risk factor of youths participating in risky sexual behavior, such as not being protected. With being exposed to pornography early it can lead people to participate in the risky sexual behaviors they see in pornography, which can lead to H.I.V.
In The Journal of Sexually Transmitted Diseases a study was done that showed that roughly 33 percent of the 168 adult film actors were found to have had a previously undiagnosed sexually transmitted disease. Another important finding of this study is that the people who had participated in the adult films had more undiagnosed infections than previously thought and were thus more likely to transmit these infections despite compliance with screening standards common to the industry. The adult film industry argues that its rate of diseases is no higher than the general populations because of its rigourous monthly tests and probiting infected performers from performing until they are treated.
